Hey guys! Hope y’all are doing well in your houses. During the lockdown, I bet you’ve been watching movies all the time, and if not, what are you even doing? I have, too. Here is a review for ‘The Sky is Pink’ which you can watch on any movie website that you know of.
The Sky is Pink failed to make an impact on the box office for no apparent reason, but that doesn’t change much about my opinion on the film. This is my first movie review, and I’ve watched this one twice, so I’m sharing my views, starting with the plot. Over 2 decades, Aisha, who had a very different life than ours, narrates the romantic tale of her parents in this drama. Aisha Chaudhary, the protagonist was a famous motivational speaker who talked about love, life, and happiness. In January 2015, she died as a result of an in-borne lung disease called Pulmonary Fibrosis. The film focuses on how Aisha’s mom and dad make sure she lives her last days of life to the fullest.
My Rating: 8.5/10 stars
Despite being based on the TRUE, heart-wrenching story of Aisha, director Shonali Bose did a great job at making the film a light-hearted one, so you could leave satisfied and smiling (or not crying). I liked the screenplay and acting very much and the direction came straight from Bose’s heart as she too, had lost her young son. It was good to see Priyanka on-screen after this long, and she did justice to her role as Aditi as well. Farhan was perfect at his job; portraying the overprotective dad who’d work the hardest to save his daughter. For certain, the Shonali film will make you cry your eyes out, especially during 1 or 2 scenes. Amongst all, the most emotional part has to be when Aisha is dying which will crush your heart, and that’s when most of the actors arrived at their apotheosis of performance.
”It feels like i am watching my world from above. Sometimes, i like to paint my pain.”
Aisha Chaudhary
The director kept humor alive by the witty voiceover of Aisha and the pre-marriage struggles of the couple. At the same time, the movie succeeded in not modifying the story and presenting it as it was; tragic and traumatic. ‘Dil hi toh hai’ was one of the best-released songs of the film. Niren Chaudhary’s middle-class family was well-showcased with a house in Chandni Chowk and the later upper-class family was depicted aptly too with a big farmhouse and the well-paying job in London. The only issue where I agree with the several critics of this work was that even though Aisha had SCID and must’ve struggled a lot in real life, in reel life, her obstacles were sidelined and her comforts were in the limelight. I think that was an intended move from the director to keep the story a bit cheery and surprisingly, that worked for me. Overall, this watch was thoroughly entertaining and Aisha’s story teaches the all of us to value our families, healths and lives while they’re there. She managed to leave behind a beautiful book for us to read her thoughts, and appreciate her doodles. Scroll down to see a preview of the book.

SHOULD I WATCH? Having said all that, ‘The Sky is Pink’ is surely worth a few hours of your time and should be given at least one watch. Highly recommended for all types of audience except the ones who prefer really fast-paced shows.
WHERE SHOULD I WATCH? Netflix.
Let’s talk! Have you watched ‘The Sky is Pink’ and if yes, did you like it? Do you wish to watch it now or not? Should I do more film reviews or this sucked? I’d love to know your opinions! Stay safe 🙂
